Rescue Me ID: 17-03-14-00114Willa-Medical Hold (female)

Westie    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Any literature aficionado is familiar with Willa Cather, known for her writings reflecting the starkness of life on the Nebraska Plains. We chose the name Willa as this sweet soul embodies the sometimes harsh life in the Midwest. Like many of the characters featured in her namesake's novels, Willa had to overcome high odds and many obstacles to get to her foster home. Through the TLC of her foster family and 'pawsome' medical care, Willa is happy and on the path to peak health. She is ten years young and reportedly good with other dogs, cats and children. As she was permitted to 'free roam' in her former rural home, she will require a ... (Read More)fenced-in yard for her safety. She is a precious, sweet girl and would love to have a family to call her own who will shower her with affection. Willa is fully vetted including vaccinations, heartworm test, flea/tick and heartworm prevention. She is spayed and micro-chipped. Her adoption fee is pending and there is a $10.99 microchip transfer fee at the time of adoption. Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts only to people living in states neighboring Nebraska and requires the adopter to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog. Rescue Me ID: 17-02-26-00205Esmerelda-Special Need (female)

Westie    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I'm special!! Why? Because I am filled with joie de vivre and even though I'm only 6 months old, I appreciate what a gift a happy life can be... I'm Esmerelda. I was born with a congenital condition called Cranio-Mandibular Osteopathy. Some dogs outgrow this condition and I intend to be one of them! Currently I am doing great on medication to alleviate any discomfort. I need a family willing to monitor me to ensure I continue to be happy and healthy! I am spunky and fun loving. A typical Westie, I would do best with a fenced-in yard to ensure I stay safe and don't wander off sniffing out the squirrel who dared to invade our yard or tracking ... (Read More)down that oh-so-mesmerizing smell! I know "my" people are out there. I hope to go to my forever family soon! So please find me! Esmerelda is fully vetted, including micro chip, which is registered to her new family when finalizing her adoption. We do recommend obedience training for all of our foster dogs. We are a small, all-volunteer group, so we typically limit our adoptions to Nebraska and its bordering states. Adopters must agree to come to Omaha to pick up their new family member. Esmerelda's suggested adoption fee is $350 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.We do not transport or fly our rescue dogs. A securely fenced yard is necessary to adopt one of our terriers. Please note, invisible or underground fencing is not considered secure or appropriate containment for terriers. Westie    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hey! My name is Oliver and I'm looking for my forever family. I'm approximately two years old and I really love having canine buddies in my foster home and would enjoy having a fur sibling in my new home as well. I'm a freedom-loving kind of guy, so I need a fenced-in yard to romp around in because, well, I haven't developed an affinity for that long thing you clip to my harness (yet). I didn't have an idyllic puppyhood. I'm really proud of my progress learning about potty schedules and stuff like that. Since my foster parents keep telling me I'm a super special guy, I admit I'm going to selective about my new home. Treats, toys, and a ... (Read More)fluffy bed are MUSTS! And, the rescue volunteers say, like any terrier, I would benefit from school (I stick my tongue out at that plan!), but, I guess it's in my best interestĽ└%BDĽ└%BD%BD'Ľ└%BDĽ└%BD%BD|and, maybe I'd learn to like that walking-attached-to-you thing a ma jig. Westie    Age: Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Bronson is a believer! Despite the apathy he was shown in his former life, he had faith that not all humans are indifferent and he now enjoys human love and affection. He could be one to hog the snuggles, but instead, this quiet, sweet spirit likes canine and human companionship alike and doesn't mind sharing the love! While at approximately 7 years old, he could be bitter that lack of care led to losing some teeth, he instead has chosen to revel in his new life where he is healthy and happy.     Oscar is a 9 year old red smooth Dachshund. This laid back gent loves to sit on your lap while you watch TV, snuggle and get belly rubs. Unfortunately, he also loves to eat so he's a bit overweight right now and is on a diet to help reduce the stress of the extra weight on his body. He needs to get some regular exercise to build up his strength and help burn off some calories. Oscar loves his toys and can get bit possessive of them.     Maggie is a lovely 7 year old smooth black and tan Dachshund. She's a bright, curious, playful girl that absolutely loves toys!     Heidi is a petite, energetic, 8 year old smooth chiweenie. She's so happy that she has retired from the breeding industry! She hasn't had an easy life and her little body shows it, but Heidi is on her way to a new, happy, healthy life. Heidi can be shy at first, but is quickly learning to trust people. She likes to get cuddles, give kisses (but watch out, she's a little French in the kissing department!) and play with squeaky toys. While Heidi does get along with other small dogs, she would prefer to be an only dog so she doesn't have to share attention or toys. (She really loves squeaky toys!) Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: High Energy
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Jack, the Tug MASTER! This young man of 7 is a tug and fetch fanatic! Anytime you are a champion sportsman, you have to be selective about your inner circle. King Jack (does that sound too much like 'The Rock?') won't admit just anyone to his posse. Like other star athletes, he does need to meet people on his terms!! After a good round of fetch or tug, he's the ultimate snuggler. And, watch your pillow folks-Jack often burrows into bed with you, welcome or not!! Who needs a body pillow with Jack around?! LOL Jack would benefit from basic obedience training to boost his ego, as he could use some confidence building. He would ... Due to his zest for the outdoors, he will need a securely fenced-in yard to prevent him from going too long for the pass.He is smart and lets his foster parents know when he needs to go outside or is hungry, and will get very excited if you ask "Do you need to go outside?" or "Are you hungry?' Like many terriers, Jack views his crate as his refuge and 'burrow.' While housebroken in his foster home, we encourage adopters to expect any dog to require an adjustment period. Jack does need to be given limited house privileges because he gets a bit enthusiastic about squeezing the Charmin or seeing how much of a 'picker upper' the Bounty is once it's shredded! If only he could be reimbursed for his quality assurance tests! Jack is fully vetted, including micro chip which will be registered to his new family when finalizing his adoption. It's been a long journey, but Alice is now happy, healthy and ready to find her forever home. Alice loves people of all ages and thrives off attention. She loves cuddles on the couch, belly rubs, snuggling under the blankets and giving kisses. Alice also enjoys spending time outside chasing squirrels and soaking up the sun.
