Rescue Me ID: 16-03-04-00294Maddie (female)

Westie    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Maddie, a beautiful 4 yr old Westie girl, is still looking for her forever home! Although she has made a great deal of progress in her foster home, Maddie still has a little "baggage" left over from spending the first 4 years of her life in a commercial breeding facility. Maddie still a bit shy around new people, and needs a little time to warm up to people before she trusts them. For this reason she needs to be in a home with no children, and seems to do best around women. Maddie will need someone with strong Westie experience that understands the Westie temperament. A basic training class will help Maddie a great deal with her ... (Read More)confidence. She's very bright, learns quickly and loves to please her people! Maddie is a little escape artist and she likes to dig. She can squeeze through small gaps in the fence or dig under it. She will need a securely fenced yard and monitoring while outside. She is also very prey driven and has that terrier tenacity when it comes to hunting and chasing. No doggie doors, please! Maddie has been known to let herself out of the yard when left outside on her own. She also has been known to bolt out the door, so you have to keep an eye on this little Houdini and make sure everything is secure so she doesn't sneak out! Maddie is kennel trained and is doing well with her potty training. She will follow the other dogs outside to do her business. She gets along well with other dogs her size. An established resident dog would be beneficial to help show Maddie the ropes and help build her confidence. Maddie really is a sweet little Westie once she bonds with you, and just wants to make you happy. If you love that Westie spirit and spunk, Maddie might just be your girl! Suggest adoption donation for Maddie is $400 and goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our rescue dogs.Wag N Train Terrier Rescue adopts only to people living in states neighboring Nebraska and requires the adopter to travel to Omaha, NE to pick up their newly adopted dog.
